Lithuanian Post’s LP Express Handles Record 3 Million Parcels in 2025 Holiday Peak, Expands Baltic Network Through 2028

VILNIUS – Lithuanian Post said its LP Express parcel‑locker network handled more than three million parcels between the beginning of November and December 31, 2025, a volume it described as one‑third higher than the same period in 2024. The operator reported more than 1.1 million parcels delivered to lockers in Latvia and Estonia during the peak period and a total of 21 million parcels processed through LP Express locker networks across Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia in 2025.

The figures point to a sharp seasonal surge managed through pre‑holiday capacity additions and cross‑border coverage in the Baltics, according to the company. LP Express is part of the state‑owned Lithuanian Post group, which operates more than 1,150 parcel lockers across the three Baltic states and handles over 30 million shipments annually, underscoring the network’s role in national infrastructure and regional e‑commerce flows.1

Key numbers at a glance

  • Peak window: beginning of November-December 31, 2025.
  • Parcels handled by LP Express in that period: more than 3,000,000 (around +33% vs. the same period in 2024).
  • Parcels delivered to lockers in Latvia and Estonia during the peak: more than 1,100,000 (about 4× 2024 level).
  • Total parcels handled via LP Express lockers in 2025 (LT-LV-EE): 21,000,000.

Holiday operations and added capacity

“These figures are not only records, but also clear proof of customer trust,” said Kastytis Valantinas, director general of Lithuanian Post. “The preparatory work carried out in advance helped us to successfully manage the peak period – even before the holidays, we expanded the LP Express network in Lithuania with more than 70 new parcel lockers and installed about 10,000 additional boxes.

“We also strengthened our logistics capabilities, attracted additional specialists and increased transport volumes so that shipments would reach customers as smoothly as possible. We are grateful to everyone who chose our services during the holiday period.”

Beyond Lithuania, preparations included additional hardware and expanded units in neighboring Baltic markets:

  • Latvia and Estonia: 120 new parcel machines added ahead of peak.
  • Thirty‑five existing machines in those countries were expanded.

The network measures reflect how out‑of‑home pickup points are used to absorb year‑end e‑commerce demand, with lockers enabling time‑flexible collection across urban and regional areas in the Baltics. As parcel volumes rise, regulators across the European Union have been updating rules on delivery markets and cross‑border parcels; in Lithuania, postal and parcel activities are overseen within the framework of the national Postal Law, which sets conditions for universal service, consumer protection and competition in networks such as LP Express.

Expansion through 2028, with new sites in smaller towns

LP Express plans to invest €4.3m (US$5.05m) in further network growth through the end of 2028. The company says 81 new lockers are scheduled for installation in smaller Lithuanian towns in 2026, extending coverage beyond the major cities where many of its more than 1,150 lockers are already concentrated.1

Lithuanian Post has also been rolling out its Baltic locker strategy under the LP Express brand in Lithuania and the Unisend brand in Latvia and Estonia, aiming to provide a unified cross‑border network for regional retailers and international platforms.1 LP Express states it will continue the €4.3m expansion program through 2028, with 81 new lockers expected in Lithuania in 2026, positioning the state‑owned operator as a key delivery channel shaping how consumers in smaller communities access fast, out‑of‑home parcel services.
