BALLINCOLLIG – Johnny Carroll, a resident of Ballincollig and formerly of Dunmanway, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026. He died in the presence of his family at Dunmanway Community Hospital in his 86th year.
The death of the long-time community member marks the loss of a patriarch to an extensive family network spanning several generations. Funeral arrangements are centered in Ballincollig, involving local religious and bereavement services, and will follow established Irish funeral customs under the framework of national death registration and burial regulations, as set out by the Civil Registration Act 2004.
Family and Bereavements
Mr. Carroll was the husband of the late Evelyn. He is survived by seven children: Eileen, Jane, Sarah, David, Alice, Jon, and Alan.
His extended family includes:
- Grandchildren: Ronan, Eve, Adrian, Rebecca, Leah, Grace, John, Danny, Lily, Jessica, and Sofia.
- Siblings: Christy, Derry, and Joan. He was predeceased by siblings Bridgie, Mary, Ettie, Joe, and Jeremiah.
- In-laws: Daughters-in-law Mary and Laura, and sons-in-law Michael and Joe.
Relatives, neighbours, and friends are expected to attend from across Cork and West Cork, reflecting Mr. Carroll’s long-standing ties to both Ballincollig and Dunmanway.
Funeral Arrangements
The family has scheduled the following services for the repose and burial of Mr. Carroll, in line with standard parish and diocesan guidelines on funeral liturgies:
- Visitation: Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. at Crowley’s Funeral Home, Ballincollig (P31 W982), with prayers commencing at 7:00 p.m.
- Requiem Mass: Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at 12:00 noon at St Mary and St John’s Church, Ballincollig.
- Burial: Following the Mass, the funeral procession will proceed to St Oliver’s Cemetery.
The Requiem Mass will be broadcast via churchservices.tv/stmjballincollig for those unable to attend in person, allowing extended family abroad and vulnerable community members to participate remotely.
