CORK – Anne Ahern (née Barry), a resident of St. Colman’s Terrace, Cloyne, passed away on June 17, 2026.

She died at Marymount University Hospital & Hospice in Cork, surrounded by her family.

The death of the former Midleton resident has prompted tributes from family, neighbors, and a broad circle of friends across East Cork, reflecting her long-standing ties to the local community.

Palliative Care and Acknowledgments

Ahern received end-of-life care at Marymount University Hospital & Hospice, a specialized facility in Cork dedicated to palliative care and the treatment of advanced illness and delivered in line with national standards overseen by the Health Information and Quality Authority.

The family issued a specific statement of gratitude toward the medical professionals involved in her care.

“The family wish to sincerely thank the staff of St. Catherine’s Ward and the wider Marymount Staff for the excellent care shown to Anne during her time with them.”

In recognition of the services provided by the institution, the family has requested that donations be made to Marymount in lieu of floral tributes, underlining the role such voluntary contributions play in sustaining specialist hospice and community-based services.
