CORK – Marie Kiely (nee Horgan), formerly of Tower, Blarney, passed away on April 18, 2026, at Cork University Hospital.
She died surrounded by her family at the hospital, which serves as the primary tertiary referral center for the region and operates within the governance and standards framework of the Health Service Executive.
The loss of the longtime Cork resident has been noted by her immediate and extended family, as well as the community in Shanballymore and Tower, where she was regarded as a steady presence in local parish and neighbourhood life.
Family and Kinship
Marie was the daughter of the late Patrick and Eileen Horgan and the sister of the late Patsy.
She is survived by her husband, Michael, and her children, Stephen, Mary, David, and Brian.

Memorial Donations
In lieu of family flowers, the Kiely family has requested that donations be made to the Cork Dialysis Unit.
The unit provides critical renal replacement therapy for patients across the county, managing the care of those with end-stage renal failure in line with national clinical and quality standards for chronic kidney disease services. For many families, such units are a lifeline that reduces the need for repeated long-distance transfers to larger specialist centres.
Messages of sympathy for the family are being accepted via the designated condolence section, allowing friends, colleagues, and neighbours who cannot attend in person to record their tributes and share memories of Marie’s life.
